DIY| ALL ABOUT CLUTCHES

24.9.13

Clutches. So I know that I am not the first one to pick up on this trend. I actually skipped years of potential coolness by saying that a clutch just is not for me. So unpractical, girly and..yes, sooo unpractical. Because how would a chaotic person like me not loose this bag in an instance as a result of the absence of comfortable straps? I would do fine with a safe cross body bag or leather backpack, but a bag without straps? Never. At least that is what I thought. Because somehow, I have clearly underestimated the charm of this member of the Bag Family.

It started with those metallic clutches, followed by the holographic ones and the return of the classics, as it occurred to me that this one item had the potential of spicing up every otherwise dull outfit. And as it is easily combined with other seasonal must haves (beanies, checks and new kind of prep) I realized that it is not the unpractical side of the bag (remember: bag without straps), but the practical side that makes it such a charmer. It really goes with everything. And on a more practical note: as I am particularly fond of those that are chunky and oversized, I could do fine with an amazing and cheap laptop sleeve. Whoop!

As I am on a really low budget these days though (remember: I bought a house) I got on with my search for the cheapest clutch out there. So it did not take long until I found myself scrolling through the DIY section on Youtube. And as I made my way through a huge number of crafting girls, I remembered a video of one of my favorite vloggers; Lene. O joy! This girl posted an amazing video of how to make your own see through clutch. My favorite clutch of all!

Having little money does clearly make one creative as I am already planning my DIY moment for next weekend. Truth be told; I can not wait to hold my home made clutch in my hands. It feels a bit like back in they day, when my parent gave me a small clothing allowance from which I had to buy everything from socks to trousers and sweaters. Creativity (read: DIY'ing as hell) was a must. This time I am a little older though, so I will not go crazy on sequins and glitters. I will go crazy on see through plastic. And as I am slowly (but surely) getting older, I am confident that I will not loose my transparent baby soon. At least, not for a week or two. :-)

Interested in making your own clutch already? Check out Lene's video here!

Happy Tuesday!

  1. lol I agree with you on why I stayed away from cluthes. They are soo impractical and I feel like I'm going to loose them all the time. I have a couple but mainly use them on a date or dinner.
