One of my favorite Dutch labels in the prêt-à-porter category is Ready to fish by Ilja. Their modern and minimalistic view on fashion makes my heart beat faster every time I see their new collection. The label is able to find the perfect balance between the masculine and feminine, making it the perfect wardrobe for confident yet fashionable women.
The collection for autumn/winter 2014 is called Terrace and is inspired by modern architecture and the desire to blur the lines between a domestic environment and our natural surroundings. Therefore the collection is characterized by a contrasting use of materials and makes a bridge between outerwear and comfortable indoor pieces. I was especially fond of the long lined coats and vests over those soft form fitting trousers and the occasional all over print on tops and bottoms. It were the details - think transparent clutches and oversized hoodies - that gave the individual pieces just the right edge and modern feel to it though. I caught myself thinking that this collection could easily fit in the Scandinavian tradition of minimalism when judged on the use of colors, materials and lines. The prouder I am that Ready to fish by Ilya was designed on Dutch soil!
