DRESS | MONKI | SNEAKERS | NIKE CLUTCH |MONKI
I could not be happier at this point. It might not be news to you, but I got a subscription to Spotify two days ago and it is amazing. It is like there is a whole wonderland of tunes waiting for me and now all I want to do is listen to music. So while I am writing this, Lilly Allens' Sheezus is blaring from the speakers. You kind of get the vibe right? I am writing a Fashion School post today, because I am entering Fashion Chick's blogger contest with the hope to win their special MBFWA Treat. How amazing would it be to be able to see a few shows, sleep in the Art'otel and score a whole new outfit? Fashion Chick asked us bloggers - You too! So if you did not send in your contribution for the contest already, hurry up and do so. Today is the last day to enter. - to share what we would be wearing during Fashion Week. I thought I would take the opportunity to share my outfit and tell you a little more about my favorite trend this season: Art School.
THE OUTFIT
When I visited Fashion Week in January, I learned that I feel most comfortable in a solid statement piece. Nothing too much going on, just one amazing piece to tell my story. Although I like a good monochrome look, I choose to wear something colorful. Something that is the best reflection possible of how I feel lately. Something that has ART written all over it. This Monki dress looks like Jackson Pollock accidentally painted a dress once, making it the perfect piece for me to wear. The dress makes me happy and keeps me motivated, as it reminds me that there still is so much beautiful art, fashion and design to share. - I have seen some cool art inspired items on Fashion Chick's page by the way. - Combined with my crispy white Nike's and a holographic clutch, the outfit is cool with an edge. Just how I like it. This outfit gives me the confidence to enjoy Fashion Week to the fullest, meet a bunch of new people and report all my experiences back to you.
ART SCHOOL
I find that this hot trend did not get the attention it deserves on the blog yet. Especially since this trend is so close to me and what I love. Art and fashion go a long way, but this season there is a real art fest going on. Celine featured a lot of art prints, inspired by the work of artist Brassaï, the models at Chanel were spotted carrying sketch books like accessories and Prada was clearly influenced by street art. And you know what they say; three makes a trend.

To be honest with you, I had to get used to the heavy brush strokes and bright colors in the beginning. Especially the combination of primary colors like red, yellow and blue were something I could not imagine myself wearing. I mean, Mondriaan is great but to look like one of his canvasses is a whole other story. The colors are a bit harsh and styling is key when wearing them. Yellow for example does not suit everyone, so you might want to try out which colors look best on you before you decide to go all out. On the other hand, I am quite relieved that the monochrome spell in fashion is broken. We are aloud to wear color and distinguish ourselves from each other. That truly is something to celebrate!
I guess I have done enough talking for the day. Let's just look at some pictures! Curious if you sent in your submission for Fashion Chick's blogger contest though. If you did, let me know. I would love to see your outfit.
Enjoy your weekend!
